This week on the I Care About You podcast, host Juliana Jay, author of Reasons to Live: An Interactive Guide to Healing and Overcoming Suicidal Thoughts and How to Help Others Survive, welcomes the incredible Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer—poet, teacher, speaker, writing facilitator, and poet laureate of Evermore. Her work has been featured on A Prairie Home Companion, PBS NewsHour, O Magazine, American Life in Poetry, The Washington Post’s Book Club, and even the stage of Carnegie Hall.
Her newest book, The Unfolding, is a powerful exploration of grief, resilience, and love. In this episode, Rosemerry shares the deeply personal journey of navigating life after the loss of her son, who completed suicide at 17. Through poetry, she found a way to meet grief, live with it, and continue loving through it. The Unfolding is a testament to the healing power of words and an intimate look at the process of working through immeasurable loss. Together, we discuss her experience, the lessons she’s learned about herself, and how writing became a lifeline.
Rosemerry also shares insights and practical tips on using poetry and creative expression as tools for healing.
